Stora hotellet in Umeå is an amazing project that has been led by the architectural firm Stylt Trampoli in Gothenburg.
We have supplied the textile section of this amazing project and it became a wonderful combination of innovative design and influences from the last century.
The hotel opened for the first time in 1895 and in the new design they have managed to incorporate the hotel’s history while it feels brand new. All surfaces in the hotel follows a theme and it feels like another world, just like the hotel should do.
Stora Hotellet offers 82 guestrooms divided into six different categories – from a spacious suites to compact sailor bunks. The hotel has a strong connection with seafarers and all room categories are named after notions that have marked the seafarer worldview.
